The Unknown
96 W x 60 H x 2 in The Unknown is a painting that is very thematic for me. I love painting non-specific abstract "places." This is a time in my life when I painting large scale abstract paintings which look like views from a satellite or airplane. I was also into circles in around the years 1998-2000. This gold circle appears to the left portion of the painting. I didn't even realize I was painting the circles near the left of several paintings until someone pointed it out. It was definitely subconscious! These are not "supernatural" circles. The circle is rather a pop element with technological, modern/electronic references. I do love its infinite symbolic associations as well as its physical appearance. This is an imaginary place for me. I do love the ocean. The Unknown has been taken off its stretchers and rolled. The sides are painted in a continuous manner and are 1.5-2." This acrylic stained painting (acrylic and sand) is coated in thick layers of semi-gloss protective finish. The canvas is heavy duty in thickness. When the painting is stretched, the waves (buckle like in the photo) disappear. The Unknown is 60"x96"x2." For shipping this painting will be rolled around 4" pvc pipe, wrapped in glassine paper, plastic sheet, and bubble wrap. It will also be placed in a 6" diameter pvc pipe with end caps. Currently this painting is rolled around a large pvc pipe and kept in plastic. It is kept in a dehumidified/temperature controlled room. It is a favorite of mine. I was going to upload a cropped photo of this painting. Yet, I wanted to be as real as possible with how it looks as it is. It has sides and does need to be stretched. I will stretch it and send it in a huge crate (I have never created a crate this large and would have to have it made and rent a truck to have it shipped - then please add $2000 to the listed cost for the labor, truck rental, and crate creation) if you would like it to arrive already stretched. https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-The-Unknown/68/2405259/view
